The Labour Hire Authority is responsible for implementing the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018. The Act introduced a licensing scheme for providers of labour hire across all industry sectors.
The Labour Hire Authority is responsible for licensing labour hire providers and undertaking education, enforcement and compliance activity. Workers will be protected against exploitation from unlicensed labour hire providers and host employers not engaging licensed providers. Licences are obtained from the Labour Hire Licencing Authority and are granted for a period of three years.
Our Labour Hire Licence was granted on the 25th October 2019 and our Licence number is VICLHL01242 which is valid for three years. GBS Recruitment Pty Ltd (Licence Holder) is authorised to provide labour hire services subject to the licence conditions set out in the Act.
To obtain this licence we were required to pass a “fit and proper person test” and show compliance with workplace laws, labour hire laws and minimum accommodation standards. We are also required to report annually on our activities and there are financial penalties for non-compliance to both recruitment organisations, and businesses who engage labour hire without a licence or via non licenced entities.
Whilst the new licencing scheme is an interesting new regulatory development in the Recruitment industry, for GBS Recruitment, our Clients and Candidates, its business as usual, as we continue to provide quality labour hire and recruitment services across Gippsland and beyond.
