GBS Recruitment – State Government Labour Hire Inquiry – March 2016
Rob Darby, General Manager of GBS Recruitment & Michael Taplin, Industrial Recruitment Consultant, attended the recent State Government Labour Hire Inquiry held in Morwell on the 29th February & 1st March 2016.
Rob and Michael were disappointed with the findings of this inquiry – namely, that in many instances, employees are being underpaid and exploited across various locations in Gippsland.
As a result of this inquiry, GBS Recruitment believes the State Government could do more to ensure employers were being monitored more closely in relation to employee pay rates and working conditions and would support the idea of Labour Hire organisations requiring a licence to operate.
GBS Recruitment works with clients across Gippsland in the blue and white collar industries paying in accordance with the relevant award or EBA, as well as conducting on-site Workplace Health and Safety assessments on a regular basis.
Rob Darby stated “We want people to be paid fairly to award conditions for the work that they do, and that job seekers and businesses can come to companies like us with confidence”. The inquiry was reported by the ABC Gippsland and WIN news, links below:
